Fox Valley Collaborative Upward Bound Program

Academic Year Tutors

Our program is looking for college students in good academic standing with their universities to tutor high school students one or two days a week, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  Each tutor will be responsible for one or two high schools in the Appleton, Neenah, and Menasha School Districts.  Tutors will work after school (approximately 3:00 – 5:00 P.M.), with the possibility of some work one Saturday a month. Rate of Pay: $9.00/Hr.

Requirements:

• Sophomore class or higher standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5

• Names and contact information of two references from high school or university faculty members

• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations

• Career commitment to educational success

• Preference will be given to persons with experience in working with disadvantaged students and who have demonstrated skills in particular academic areas, particularly math

• Demonstrate positive attitude about the importance of education and the ability of students to succeed

• Previous tutoring experience is desirable

• Punctual, dependable, and responsible

Job Description:

The Upward Bound High School Academic Tutor is responsible for providing Upward Bound high school participants with support & assistance in academic subjects to help them succeed.  This position will also partner with the other members of the Fox Cities Rotary Multicultural Center (FCRMC) to ensure that all activities performed are in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, values and guiding principles of the FCRMC and Goodwill NCW.

Provide Upward Bound high school participants with support & assistance in the following academic subjects:

• English, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.)
• Mathematics (Algebra-Calculus, Statistics)
• Foreign Language (Spanish, Hmong, French, etc.).
